Dear Mr Redhound
from the Barnsley pound
It is good to hear Chippy
is coming on our trippy.
Nothing will be finer
than to see his Sunliner
Lining up with the bunch
at that first counter lunch.
Cruising down the road
with even the odd cane toad. :D :D :D :D

No.. i havent dropped the batton on this event.
Yes... i do make mistakes with dates etc..
So.. i have revisited what was on page one now that i have been and seen some of the parks and free camps.

Camden Caravan Park simply wont have us on the Anzac weekend as it would upset others that want to book the weekend leading up to and including Anzac day. They offered to put up a gazebo and set us up down the paddock... i declined politely.

So... i called in at Gunning to check out Jennisons suggestion of a frree camp overnight there?
Nice quiet little town with a free camp in a close next to the creek . toilet block with 2 showers.but limited ammount of space.
Showground has plenty of room and allows free campers. Has a large ammenities block that i never checked out.

So... here is the ammended plan..

No parks booked.. No set itenary at this stage,, basically just a mix of travel a day or 2.. have 2 days off.. tarvel a day.. have a day off .. seems to work fine providing there is enough to keep us occupied when we stay at each village..... although.. with that said.. sometimes doing bugger all beside sitting around a campfire is all that is needed for a good holiday..

Have a Gecko at the following and give me a bit of feedback...

Day1..Tuesday 25/4/2017 Anzac Day... Gather at Gunning showground free camp.
Day 2.Wednesday 26th... Gunning to Tumut River Glade CVP.
Day 3..Thurs 27th .. Tumut to Jingellic free camp .. via Green hills..Rosewood...127K/ 1hr 30min
or Via Batlow .. Tumbarummba..114k 1 hr 50m
Day 4..Fri 28th ... Jingellic to Yackandandah C.V.P.. 135k 2hrs pet friendly
Day 5..Sat 29th free day at Yack.. Explore Yack ..Beechworth
Day 6..Sund 30th Free day at yack.. Explore Myrtleford , Bright
Day 7 Mond 1st May... Yack to Yarrawonga C.V.P via Wangaratta / Killawarra...pet friendly
1 hr 26mins / 115k
Day 8 Tues.. free day explore yarra area.
Day 9.. Head for home .. Across to Albury .. for those heading north ..maybe have a night at Holbrook.. Gundagai .. or Yass.
Or
Stay inland a bit and head up the Olympic Hwy towards Cowra etc.??

OK Then .. As stated on page one....just my 2 bobs worth ..
Check the days and dates to see if i have it correct for April 2017
Do a bit of your own investigations or simply throw your ideas up here so we can mull them over 8-) .
NOTE: PLEASE DO NOT PHONE ANY OF THE PARKS YET. ;)

gday reddo
just remembered a nice pet friendly park with a camp
kitchen in junee . Got a great little chocolate/licquorice factory in
town and a rail museum for train buffs . Might be worth a look
for a stop on the way down or back maybe ? just a thought
anyway thanks

Hi Phill

Yeah mate.. i know the park you are refering to. Its a nice open park
We stayed there a couple of years ago on the way home from the last snowys tour..
We had enjoyed fine weather up until we arrived at Junee....
Still.. we had a good night watching the Rugby league Australia V NZ Anzac test match in the little camp kitchen.
Most us had a wander through the licourice factory and i spent about 3 hours up at the railway museum... and could probably spend just as much time there again. 8-)

Junee CVP is a better option than Cootamundra... at least i reckon so.

Next time you are talking to Clyde and Barb ask them what they thought of our next nights stay on the way home at Ryleston.... where the weather really turned to poop.

Anyway mate.. we can mull the Junee option over with a few of the others at Shellharbour who have indicated that they will be keen on coming on next years tour. 8-) 8-) 8-)

YUP.........
They vowed never to come back to Rylston ever again..... Not even in the middle of Summer
It was that cold and miserable that even the "locals " from Strugglebrook drove straight through town and went home.

Bloody Rylston. Colder than Canberra! Did an army camp there once refurbing the historic rail track. Gawd it was cold!
