I have included this section for caravan builders that made one off caravans or at this stage are unidentified caravan builders.
This 1937 Newcastle photo shows a caravan built by Mr Frank Gilbert for a Sydney motorist.

While admiring the old cars and vans from this Lake Jindabyne caravan park postcard I noticed a very unusual pop top caravan in the lower left corner. It is an aluminium construction and looks to be either a very good home built van or a factory job, with a very high roof canvas section.

Very interesting pop top there!
Looks home made, which as we all know often means well made.Interesting that the door looks one piece and the sides may be solid?
Cheers

Here's a little home made pop top I saw at Lake Tabourie back in 2010. Nice old couple had it and it was their last trip in it before he handed ownership to his son, reckoned he was too old to be putting it up.
The tow car indicates it must have been a nice light thing to tow.

As I recall he had built it in the seventies while working for a body building company doing truck bodies. It was very well thought out and seemed to work well. The tow car indicates it must have been a nice light thing to tow.
