This is the original FJ Holden station wagon that GMH built but it never went into production. :( :( It was purchased from GMH by the current owners father and it has been in the same family since.

This old station wagon was on ebay in early 2010 and it would have been produced by a specialist motor body builder that would have been producing modified car bodies back in the 50's. They have used an FJ panel van as the basis model, and changed the front seat to a 2/3, 1/3 configuration so that the passanger side flips forward to gain access to the bench seat in the rear.

The rear of the panel van has had a hood lining added.

Here's two photos of an FJ wagon I took at CMC display day at Eastern Creek recently. I've never seen a wagon in the 40 odd years of hanging around old cars. This is a very nice style, based more on the sedan and somewhat like the Vauxhall E model wagons which were modified sedans. I don't know who built it and I never caught up to it among the 1600 odd cars there to have a look inside. Certainly prettier than the GMH one in the first post.

G'DAY GEORGE ,HOW YOU GOING. ;)

WOW ISNT SHE A BEAUTY !

THANKS FOR SHARING THE PHOTOS. I WAS THERE THAT DAY , SORRY I DIDNT SEE YOU.

I HAD THE FX CONVERTIBLE/TEARDROP COMBO ON DISPLAY THAT DAY WITH ABOUT 16 OF OUR CLUB VEHICLES INCLUDING THE STATION WAGON. THE OWNER HAS JUST JOINED OUR CLUB AND IS A HELL OF A NICE GUY . HE HAS CERTAINLY LIFTED THE STANDARD AROUND HERE.
THE STATION WAGON WAS AWARDED "BEST IN PADDOCK", OUT OF 1600 VEHICLES. NOT A BAD EFFORT FOR A "HUMPY".
WE ALSO HAD AN FJ PANELVAN AWARDED SECOND BEST IN THE CONCOURSE SECTION.

ALL WE NEED TO DO NOW IS GET A VINTAGE VAN ON THE BACK OF EACH OF THEM. :D

CHEERS, 8-) MAURIE 8-)

Hi Maurie

Shame we didn't cross paths, however I did see the FJ convertible and TD doing a lap of the circuit in fine style, I wasn't in the right spot to get a photo though.

Hi George and Maurie.
I think this station wagon was one of two that was owned by a guy in Melbourne. One was an original Cordell wagon that had been rebuilt from a shell after a tree had fallen on it, and the other I think from memory was built from scratch using a sedan body.
Ill have to see Kaybe to get the full story.
Cheers.
Richard.

I have no idea of the origins of this photo but it clearly shows an FX Holden Cordel bodied station wagon.

The two styles have been that popular that they have both been turned into 1:43 scale models. The first one of the Cordell by Armco models, and the second by Trax.

Howdy, here's a few pics of that wagon you saw at Eastern Creek while it was nearing completion.....

...in the background you can see the no.19 48/215 and also the Peter Brock racecar....

...and the original wagon with a dent in it that became the Green over Taupe car....

...both cars were built at the local workshops of Phil Munday by a couple of his talented team, the first car is a total replica and the other is an original that belonged to a pal of mine and had been sitting in his drive under a tarp since the late 70's.....until a tree fell on it , then he finally decided to do something sensible with it and sell it 8-) , cheers.....
