A couple of Ken Maynard cartoons from recently acquired The Royalauto magazines. Ken Maynard was well known for his detailed cartoons featuring Ned and his Neddy in the Australasian Post, a weekly magazine now defunct. Maynard also featured the Ettamogah Pub in his cartoons with its swayback roof and old tray truck on top. The pub became a reality, the first being built near Albury NSW, a spot where I've settled the dust on more than one occasion when travelling south.
I love his cartoons and I was pleased to find a couple that include caravans, I'm sure there would be more, he liked poking fun at the motorist and I recall his favourite trucking company was "Brumbles". George

The attached is a really interesting social comment on caravanning from 1938, published in Smith's Weekly on 24 December, 1938.
You really have to enlarge it and slowly go through it to get the full gist of the goings on in a caravan park given they were a relatively new activity.

I remember the Maynard Cartoons.. The other trucking company was "Freds".
The trucks where always massively overloaded with wool bales etc..
Galahs and cockys flying around in work boots..
Rabbits standing around having a smoke !!!
