My Ranger aluminium van...

Post by littleblackbird »

Aluminium exterior,10'6", galvanised water tank with hand pump, ice box.
So far I have not been able to date the van.
There has been some replacement of the internal lining from Masonite to Ply.
The 'Ranger' name also seems to have no history??

Hi littleblackbird.
And welcome to the website.
What a tiny little van, I love it !
At a quick glance I would say that the van would be no earlier than about 1969 and up to the mid 70's, that is if the exterior cladding is original.
I havnt heard of Ranger either but I will have a look through my reference material that goes up to the 1980's to see if I can find anything for you.

Cheers.
Richard.

Hi Richard, :))).
I've uploaded a few more pics. I'm also a member of another van site and the name is not known to anyone there either? I have also tried looking at UK brands and nothing there either.
I have a 1946 homemade bondwood also. Its actually in better condition than this one, LOL...
Its hard to know if the ext cladding is original and there is some bondwood under some parts of the aluminium but, they are raw bonwood and look like they have been put under for lining?
Anyway, I'll add more pics. Vikki. :)

Some more pics. :) Clues? :)
I'd really like to be able to at least date it to the correct decade...
If the exterior was not aluminum I would think it was much older due to the internal fittings and the woodwork. :? :)

Hi

The water filler fitting and cap are identical to the one on my 1968 Olympic (fibreglass) Debonair. No idea how long the style was used. Cute little van ;)

Hi griffin, I have only seen a few van pics with the same style water filler and cap.
This van really has me baffled and partof me wants to just accept that it is a mystery but, I can't, I will keep searching. I've looked on British sites also.
I just can't figure that if they did clad it with aluminium as a renovation job, why they would put the 2 X name transfers saying 'RANGER' on it?
LOL, ;)
