New Zealand Vintage Caravan Association

Post by Robert »

Well after some discussions on both sides of the Tasman, I have finally decided to get the ball rolling with a Register for pre 1970's Caravans in New Zealand.
This is not so much as a Club but a common ground to allow Clubs and owners to come together from all over New Zealand in one place. The Clubs would be promoted as much as possible whilst owners will benefit from teaming up with others and checking a register to make contacts.
The registration will be for the Caravan and not the owners. This is so, as an Association, we could pass on new owner details of Clubs and owners who would like to be known within their area.
The biggest advantage is that these beautiful pieces of our history could be preserved much easier through encouragement and assistance to owners.
The register is already drafted and interest has been extremely positive. If there are any New Zealand based owners here, we would love to hear from them.
The best news so far is that whilst the formation period is underway, there will be no costs to get onboard and secure a very low registration number for your Caravan.
Basically, first in is best dressed for the number allocation.
Details are available from:
nzcaravans@gmail.com
or Postal :
NZ Vintage Caravan Association
PO Box 32345, Devonport,
Auckland 0744,
New Zealand.
I would also like to know if Australia has a National Register of Clubs and Caravans?
This is a very new project so any ideas would be gratefully received. The Registration started today 24th March 2010.
Maybe on day we could have a Trans Tasman list of Clubs and owners so that those on holiday could visit?
Your thoughts
Regards
Robert Williams

Hi Robert.
And welcome to the ourtouringpast.com website, good luck with the register and I am more than happy for you to use the forum as a base for your registrations.
We dont actually have a register or a club over here, but we tend just to organise get togethers through the internet.

Good luck.
Richard.
