The Fridge..

Before i can permanently fix it in place i had to hack out some sort of ventilation behind it.
So... Marked out the inside and cut out with angle grinder.
DSCN6420.JPG
Then fixed flyscreen to the panel with silastic.
Moved on outside and cut out a nice big area to let cool air in and the heat out

. Once again.. can thank Judi for the sheets of diamond alloy. Even had a good original fridge vent panel..
Nice colour match..

Another layer of flyscreen fitted to the outside before pop riveting the new vent in place.

Sort of makes me wander why van manufacturers always put the fridges on the right side of the vans??
No protection from the heat / direct sunlight on the side of the van??
With it fitted left side .. you have 2 advantages..
1. When the annexe is up the fridge is protected from the direct sun .
2. When the entry door is open the vent is in the shadow of the door... even with the centre flyscreen of the door opened it offers the fridge vent some shade..!!

Just another mindless observation from the Shed of Invention ..
Finished off the draw front with 2 coats of clear gloss. .. thats it for today..

Maybe the builders are thinking a fridge full of beer and a strapping young fellow as yourself with all that pure muscle in a relaxed state swings off the door to get in and tips the van over.

So.. as stated in the last post.." i guess i will just keep plodding along with it.."
And so..
Yesterday i done some more plodding..
Primed all the timberwork in the bedframe...2 coats and let it dry..
DSCN6502.JPG
Then a top coat of "straw loft " waterbased paint.
Painted the 3 doors in hi gloss enamel sky blue.. dried and then a second coat. ..
While they where drying i a cut a double bed mattress down to a single bed size and refitted the cover

doors dry enough to handle by mid arvo...
mattress installed.. doors back on .
Looks a bit tidier in that dept now.. !!

With all due respect Mr Gigglebrook... I thought you had been around vintage caravans long enough to pick the difference between my most magnificent Viscount Valiant... and .... A Honda transporter....

Wots that you say ???... you dont know the difference??
Its simple..
The Honda Transporter is Blue Volvo Compactor Contraption .... and has "CLEANAWAY" .. Clearly marked on its side.

Meanwhile..while the brushes where wet... i sanded and masked up the stripes on the outside... 2 hours work and all done......Original was dark blue... but i sorta like the pale blue tying in the the blue doors inside....Hmmmmmm .. might have to give the Velocette a lick of Blue and Yellow ... NOT !!
