Standard Vanguard Utility & van 7000 mile trip

Post by griffin »

Hi Richard

Thought this old advert from Australian Monthly Motor Manual, Nov. 1950 might be of interest. Looks like it would have been a great effort for a van to have survived that trip on the roads/tracks of the time, pity they didn't plug the van too.

Hi George.
Can you imagine what condition the roads would have been back then. They didnt say how long they were away for but I would think that it would have been a slow old trip towing the Furnace caravan over the 7000 miles of Australias outback, although they did take the train from Port Augusta to Alice Springs.

Cheers.
Richard.
