Hi,
The windows on the 59 Gypsy seem to have had rubbers but there are no grooves to slide them into, would anyone have any ideas
The windows themselves seem unique, they slide up into the walls and have no supports they are self holding

Re: Gypsy Windows Help
Hi Stephen&Julie.
Iam not too sure about the rubbers from the photos, but the windows are sliding on Whitco casement or awning window hinges. You dont normally see these on a caravan and they were popular on domestic windows that hinged from the top as they were self supporting, they also died out by the early 90's as aluminium windows dominated the market.
Cheers.
Richard.

Re: Gypsy Windows Help
Hi Again.
Just had a thought. Is there white stuff holding the glass in? If they were using domestic window stays that maybe they were using "putty" to hold the glass in. It may not be the normal putty but a similar type that still used the "whiting" ( a white powder that is the main ingredient of putty ) and was more suitable for aluminium.
Cheers.

Re: Gypsy Windows Help
Hi Richard
Spot on,there is a putty like substance around the windows, it turns to a white powder when I have been removing it.
Looks like they just glued a rubber around the inside outer rim to stop dust/water ingress
Cheers S4J
