I have added this section to help people identify the different periods of stoves for their caravan or teardrop.

The Renown

Three advertisements for The Renown spirit stove, 1949, 1950 and 1951, only the advertisements change, the product looks the same.
It could have been the basis for modelling the Starship Enterprise!

Had this baby for a while.Story goes that it was bought from Waltons in the 60s,used only once & put away.Stands 8"1/2 H with a 9" base. Seperates for easy cleaning it shows no makers mark:

This is one of two Hecla brand cookers i have in complete & working condition:

And yes,the Hecla iron, kettle & toaster in background all work well too.
Although we are talking of cookers, listed on this brochure are some Hecla heaters.Interestingly enough the 2nd pic depicts a "Don" (familiar name!) heater which inverted doubles as a cooker:

While spending a few days in Bathurst recently I found an old antique shop just out of town on Vale Road. Surprising there was only the one, apart from a couple of very small, more trendy type ones in the CBD. It was a great place, over run with bits and pieces and after an initial look around I decided to go back for a better look ;) armed with a torch for some of the more dingy spots while 'she' spent some time in town.

In the end I spent a couple of hours rummaging around and bought a nice Mulga wood ash tray and match holder for my collection as well as a brass fire screen, so the grandson doesn't come to grief this winter.

Another interesting item was on a shelf I understood was items that weren't for sale :o hate those shelves :!: It was a Malleys Picnic Kettle and Stove, still in the box, well I assume the box wasn't empty, best I could manage was a photo, I've never seen one before.

The owner was a nice bloke who became pretty chatty and says he is looking to sell up and move to Tasmania, so maybe the 'not for sale' shelf will be :!:

This 1934 Coleman Camp Stove advertisement cropped up the other day while searching on Trove, with caravan use actually getting a mention, and it wasn't just for cooking but keeping warm and clothes drying, no doubt a magical device in its day, even if a bit cumbersome. I particularly like the down to earth text.

and another for Sands stoves from The Argus 23-2-1937. Sands also offered the KEMICO Odourless Lavatory, no doubt a bit more upmarket than a spade in the bush!
