Boris and The Electronic Swagman

Post by griffin »

A mate just sent me these photos taken at Wollstonecraft in Sydney.
'Boris' would appear to be a homebuilt bondwood of some age, maybe someone knows something of it?
Googling 'The Electronic Swagman' reveals a lot, including photos, but I couldn't find anything relating to the van. South Australian plates on it at present.

Hi George...
Looks like a nice old van.
I take it from whats on the back of the van ( havent googled yet ) the owner has found a nich in life whereby he is enjoying life touring in the old van ..
with a modern take on story telling and photography along the way..
Good on him !!! 8-)

Hi George,

I reckon this is a 15 ft Flynn caravan from the early 50's. The unusual rear window and squarish front (looking from the side) give it away.

Great to see it if it is a Flynn. Not many of their vans survived.

Hi Richard.
I had my doubts about it being a Flynn but I must say that after checking a few of the Flynn photos HERE I would now have to agree, and like you said not many of these surviving now.

Gents

I knew someone would know something about it. The Electronic Swagman seems to have found a way to make money from enjoying life, half his luck.

Hi

Found "Boris"parked on the front lawn of a home in Rankin Park yesterday.
A suburb of Newcastle about 15 mins from Barnsvegas.

If that is where it lives i am concerned for old Boris's wellbeing... not undercover.. not good for bondwood..
Lets hope he is just visiting..??

I should hope the ES is just enjoying another stopover on his travels and not abandoning the van to the elements. I'm sure Reddo will keep an eye on it to keep it safe.
