New toy

Post by 666 »

Hi, My name is Peter and wife Narelle, we just purchased a Cargill camper. We really wasn't looking for anything but I seen it for sale and couldn't resist. We had one about 15 years ago and had to sell it. Anyway on getting it home it's been partly dismantled, new wheel bearings fitted and need to reweld some of the frame. Also taking the canvas to get new screens and zippers fitted. Hoping to have it usable in a couple of weeks for a trial run. I found this forum by chasing info using Google. Regards Peter.

Nice to hear you are reliving your youth, how about some photos.

And, check the events, a week in Shellharbour coming up on 21 Oct. if you are free and the beast is ready.

Hi Pete and Narelle.

We use to have a Cargill back in the 80s when we where keen on beach fishing. We use to tow it along Stockton Beach near Newcastle behind a series 2 - 4 cylinder land rover... very light and easy to tow.
Took about 5 mins to set up , which included the 3 metre annexe which came off the tailgate end of the canvas.
2 kids under 3 years old. camped on the beach for up to 7 days at a time.
Campfires for cooking fresh fish every arvo and boiling the billy of a morning.
. Eskys for cooling the baby bottles and beer.
We slept on the floor in the middle .. with one kid either side up on the bunks along the side. They liked laying in bed and looking out through the flyscreen sides when the canvas flaps where rolled up.

Life was so much easier in the Cargill days.

Look forward to seeing a few photos of yours. unfortunately we had our Cargill before the days of digital cameras and I have no prints of it either.
Cheers and ... enjoy.

Regards
Reddo and Trish .. ( Barnsley NSW)

I put a jockey wheel on to make it easier to move around also a 7 pin flat plug to match both cars. For my travels I need to find pet friendly van parks. A few weeks ago we picked up a retired guide dog and she is anxious when left. Sounds like good times fishing and camping on the beach although beach fishing is not my preference. Prefer rock or boat fishing.
