A Scone cook of aye..

I have had limited experience with pastry etc..

I once was strolling along a street in England.. Came across a bakery..
There was a buxom wench arranging her buns in the shop window... i thought to my self... geez i wouldnt mind getting into her pantrys
So..I went in and commented on her buns.. Her name was Helga and she said her buns where famous around the world. especialy the ones with little red cherries on top.... a real stand out i'm told.
I told her i was a shearers son.. but i was just spinning her a yarn
I used the old line ..... whats a nice girl like you doing in a place like this??
She said... The dough is lousey but ... its a crust.

One thing lead to another and she told me she could handle anything from from french bread sticks to cream horns.
I found myself kneading her badly.
We ended up out the back in the bakery where we rolled on the flour.
The oven door opened and I could feel things rising and heating up...
Seems we where really cooking at the time
Thoughts got around to putting a bun in the oven

It was about now that her crusty old Boss turned up and caught us dusting her buns
Things went stale very quickly..
Things began to crumble
He really did put a damper on proceedings!!

I left the shop.. vowing that we should write to each other..
Years later i got a letter from Helga with the big buns..

Dear Reddo..

I ended up marrying a baker named Ted from Teddington.. He was on the run from Police when i met him..
Apparently he had thrown a stale pork pie at some milko called Ernie who drove the fastest milk cart in the west..and caught him right beneath the heart... and Ernie bit the dust.. i thought to myself... poor Ernie. :(

They went on to have 13 children.. Helga only wanted 12 ... but Ted insisted on having a bakers dozen.... :D

So.. there ya have it.. not much luck with pastry .. or Helga
I will volunteer to be a sampler at Shellhabour
