Touring to the "Bigger than Texas Tour" 2018

Post by reddo »

Hi all..

Well here we are roughly 12 weeks off the start of the Kaybees "Bigger than Texas 2018 Vint van Tour".
The tour itself officially starts at Nowa Nowa Vic on the Friday13th April.

There was a bit of talk on the tour thread about where to stay on the way down to Victoria when the tour was first announced .
I had a bit of a think about it and i am looking at putting in a 6 hour run on Thursday 12th April and staying at Moruya Riverbreeze Van park that night.. Then doing the rest of the run to Nowa Nowa the next day.

Obviuosly people are coming to Nowa Nowa from all directions and from longer distances than i am from Newcastle.
Also people travel at different paces and might want to break the trip into smaller "chunks"..
But it would be nice to be in the same location at the end of each day??

So.. what are you doing??.. What are your thoughts??..All ideas and comments on distances and overnight stays are welcome.. hopefully we can come to agreeable overnight stops
?????

gday reddo
sounds like a plan , they will be 2 good days for you but im happy to run with that , moruya is a good place to stop ink and plenty of room for casper to turn around if he finds his way
it will split your run pretty even i think although it gets a bit hilly after eden but should be alright .
we will see what others think and see what happens

Thanks for the reply Phill..
Casper now has a limited slip diff to put in the wagon... so making his way through Caretakers transpiration pits during the early hours of the morning should be a breeze nowadays.

Happy to listen to anyone thoughts on overnight stays... but would like to get to Nowa Nowa in a 2 day hop??
Cheers

This is where Cheers Reddo lets himself down, the waggon has the V8 diff, the 3.36 limited slip is a banjo and will be going into the HJ sedan.
I would just like to say that was an inspired piece of driving. :D :D :D :D :D :D

Is the HQ a stump jump plough or a harrow disc...
Seems to do a wanderful of ripping up van parks... :?: :?: :?:

From inspiration .. to Transpiration
Gone in 30 seconds.
.
I see Slatterys are having a farm clearance at Beggary creek.. lots of cars etc.
Rare and collectable Strugglebrook models.. Holdens.. MG... Jag... Morris..... all missing reverse gear..??? :D

The camp kitchen at Moruya is to die for.....
It has 3 bars .. a dining room.. TAB...Bottle Shop .Right next to the entrance to the van park on the river.. Beer is cheap too.
